Malnutrition and limited access to food have posed a threat to public health and contaminated food has added to this problem. Contaminated food is being made and sold across the country. But the public is unaware of these practices.
According to various reports, the chicken sold in Karachi contains a high quantity of arsenic. As a result, blood cancer and neurological diseases have become quite common. The same reports have also suggested that arsenic is found in groundwater and could culminate in water-borne disease like cholera, diarrhoea and hepatitis A and F. The deadly chemicals that are entering the food chain have proved to be quite dangerous to our wellbeing. The sale of contaminated food items should be banned and the government must take an immediate action against those who sell these products.
