• Shahbaz for transparent system for aid to affectees

      LAHORE: Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that such a transparent system should be evolved for provision of financial assistance to the flood victims, which could also ensure the maximum facilities for them.

      He was presiding over a meeting, which considered various proposals regarding provision of financial assistance to flood victims. The chief minister also issued directions for constituting a committee consisting of senior officers of the Al-Falah Bank and the Punjab government for evolving a financial model regarding the disbursement of amounts to the affectees.

      The chief secretary, senior member Board of Revenue, secretary Finance, secretary Health, director general Provincial Disaster Management Authority and representatives of Bank Al-Falah also attended the meeting.

      Haj money donated to relief fund: Director Public Affairs Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell, Model Town, Bashir Ahmed Gondal, has donated Rs238,000 of his Haj expenses to the Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund.

      Presenting the cheque during a meeting with Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif here on Tuesday, he said all arrangements for his Haj were complete but as millions of people had lost their earnings and were facing problems as a result of floods, therefore, he had cancelled his Haj programme. He said that he considered that no worship was more important than service to people during the hour of trial. The chief minister appreciated his spirit of service to humanity.
