ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Food and Agriculture on Monday suggested to write off agricultural loans of farmers in the flood affected areas.
The meeting chaired by Syed Javed Ali Shah was given a detailed briefing by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture on damages in the flood-hit areas. The members of the committee said that floods caused unprecedented damages to crops and livestock in all four provinces and envisaged such polices, which would revive these sectors.
The committee recommended giving maximum facilities to farmers so that they could vibrantly play their role in building national economy. Mir Mohabat Khan Mari, Syeda Sugra Imam, Rehmatullah Kakar, Mir Mouhammad Ali and others attended the meeting.The next meeting of the committee will be held in last week of September to discuss post flood situation and prepare recommendations.
