KARACHI: All-rounder Asif Raza powered Omar Cricket Club into the final of the 25th KG Ramazan Festival Cricket Tournament 2010 for the Bahria Town Trophy as they overcame the spirited United Bank Limited Cricket Academy by 12 runs in the semifinals here at the Karachi Gymkhana Cricket Ground on Monday.
UBL Cricket Academy, set a target of 140 in 20 overs, lost their way after a promising start provided by Usman Farhat’s 52 off 39 balls. Asif’s four-wicket haul restricted them to 127 for eight in the allotted 20 overs.
Earlier Omar CC, batting first, recovered to reach 139 for eight with Mir Afzal (36) and Asif Raza (35) adding 62 for the seventh wicket. The innings was wrecked by left-arm medim-pacer Rumman Khan who picked up four wickets for 39 run.
Omar CC will be taking on Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) in the final to be played on Tuesday (today). The prize distribution ceremony will be held immediately after the conclusion of the final. Sindh Sports Minister, Dr Syed Mohammad Ali Shah, will be the chief guest on the occasion while Executive Director, Bahria Town (Pvt) Ltd, will be the guest of honour.
