Ports and Shipping Ministry donates Rs12m

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Senator Babar Khan Ghauri, on behalf of his Ministry, on Friday handed over to City District Government Karachi the relief goods valuing Rs12 million for the flood affected camped here.
The goods meant for 63,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) placed in 47 camps managed by CDGK included 5,000 food packets, pedestal fans, bed sheets, pillows, water coolers, plastic water tanks, utensils.
Administrator CDGK Fazal-ur-Rehman received the relief goods.
Secretary Ports and Shipping Saleem Khan, Director General Ports and Shipping Hassan Zaidi, Chairperson Karachi Port Trust Nasreen Haq, Chairman Port Qasim Authority Admiral (Retd) Muhammad Shafi, Chairman Pakistan National Shipping Corporation Brig. (Retd) Rashid Qureshi were also present.
The Minister for Ports and Shipping told media that his Ministry has provided those relief items which were suggested by CDGK. The food packets are sufficient to meet 15 days requirement of the IDPs.
The Ministry would provide more goods if demanded by CDGK, he said. Ghauri said these 47 camps are being supported by the Government, business community and philanthropists.
Adminstrator CDGK Fazal-ur-Rehman explained that 50 percent expenses of 63,000 IDPs in camps here is being borne by the business community and philanthropists.
