MQM activist, former policeman among five killed

Five people, including an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and a former policeman, were gunned down on Thursday.
Twenty-four-year-old Danish Kaleemullah, who was associated with the MQM’s Medical Aid Committee, was shot by unidentified motorcyclists near the Siddique-e-Akbar mosque in Sector 11½ of Orangi Town, said a Pakistan Bazaar police official. The wounded man was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH), where he died.
Police said the victim was an activist of the MQM’s unit No 118 and an employee of the ASH, adding that his father, who was also an activist of the party, had been murdered in Orangi Town in similar circumstances.
Following the killing on Thursday, unidentified men on motorcycles resorted to aerial firing in the locality and forced shopkeepers to suspend their business activities.
Condemning the murder, the MQM’s Rabita Committee said 18 party activists were killed this year.
The leaders offered condolences to Kaleemullah’s family, and demanded of the authorities to arrest the killers.

Ex-cop gunned down
Malik Zaman, a police sub-inspector who was dismissed from service a couple of months ago, was shot multiple times by unidentified assailants near the D1 area of Malir’s Khokhrapar locality, said SHO Dhani Bakhsh Marri. The victim was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he died.

‘Informer’ shot dead
Twenty-five-year-old Naseer Baloch was gunned down by unidentified assailants in the Kalakot locality, said SHO Haji Sanaullah.
Baloch, a resident of Shahrukh Lane, was killed by gangster Sadiq Ghatani and his associated because they suspected the victim of being a police informer.

Man stabbed to death
A man was stabbed to death at his house near Mastana Chowk in Sector B of Baldia Town, said Ittehad Town ASI Yousuf. Habib Gul, 55, was sleeping in his bedroom when someone barged into his house and stabbed him multiple times.

Woman tortured to death
The body of a woman who was tortured to death was found at her residence in Korangi’s Zia Colony, said SHO Nafees-ur-Rehman.
Lubna Hameedullah might have been killed by her husband because he had gone missing after the incident.
