Attack on doctors at DHQ Hospital

PMA continues strike for arrest of accused

TOBA TEK SINGH: On the call of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), DHQ, THQ and Rural Health Centres’ doctors of the district observed two-hour token strike here on Saturday for the third consecutive day.

They were protesting against police failure to arrest the relatives of three patients who had attacked doctors and ransacked their offices at DHQ Hospital on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the City police raided Chak 253-GB Khotran and arrested accused Rana Muhammad Ramzan while police were raiding to arrest the remaining accused. PMA general-secretary Dr Afzal told journalists if the police could not arrest the accused, they will observe two hours strike every day.

LAWYERS’ STRIKE AGAINST JUDICIAL POLICY: The District Bar Association members observed a complete strike on Saturday on the call of Punjab and Pakistan Bar Councils against national judicial policy. A DBA meeting was also held with bar president Muhammad Zafar Ch in the chair which passed a resolution in which participants termed the national judicial policy against the justice in the country. Lawyers of Kamalia and Gojra also observed strike on the same issue.

TWO LABOURERS INJURED: Two labourers were injured as a result of falling into 60-foot deep well at village Chak-269 GB Kot Khitran. According to Rescue 1122, both 28 years old Sharif and 34 years old Nadeem were fetching an electric motor of a tube-well with a rope from the well when a wooden rod on which they were standing broke and both fell into it. Rescue 1122 reached spot and rescued them. They received critical wounds and were admitted to the DHQ Hospital.



Man injures daughter

TOBA TEK SINGH: A young girl was injured in an attempt to keep calm her parents at village Chak 349-GB here on Saturday.

According to Rescue 1122, Sumera jumped in between her mother and father when her father was attacking her mother with a sharp knife. As a result, she was critically injured and admitted to the DHQ Hospital.

FOUR INJURED IN ACCIDENTS: Four people were injured in different accidents. Two motorcyclists Riaz and Arif were injured when their bike hit a rickshaw near general bus stand while Salim received injuries when his car collided to a rickshaw. Another youth, Akbar, of Faiz Colony was also wounded when his motorcycle was hit by another bike.



Cellphone firm staffer robbed of cash

TOBA TEK SINGH: Dacoits looted Rs 230,000 in cash from a salesman of a mobile phone company.

Yasir Fareed of Mobilink Company was returning after marketing to Pirmahal from Sindhillianwali. When he reached near Kammi Shah bus stop three motorcyclists intercepted him and his gunman Majid and snatched away cash and mobile phone sets from them.

DRIVE AGAINST ENCROACHMENTS: Faisalabad Commissioner Muhammad Tahir has directed the revenue officers of the district to implement in true spirit the directions of Punjab chief minister regarding clean up operation against encroachments. He was addressing a meeting at here on Saturday in DCO office. He asked them to continue operation without discrimination. DCO Amanullah Khan briefed him about the performance of revenue officers. Others who were also present in the meeting include district officer revenue Rana Waseem Afzal, DDOs(R) of Kamalia, Toba and Gojra Muhammad Ijaz, Sikandar Zulqarnain and Amin Awaisi respectively.

YOUTH ATTEMPTS SUICIDE: A youth attempted to commit suicide on Saturday in village Chak 321 GB near Chuttiana. Akhtar Ali had dispute with his family over which he took poison. When he became unconscious, he was rushed to DHQ Hospital where his condition was critical.

QUL: Former Pirmahal market committee administrator Pir Khalid Mustafa died on Saturday after a protracted illness. Scores of citizens attended his funeral at Sindhillianwali. His Qul will be held on Sunday (today) at 8 am.



‘Sasti roti scheme achievement of Punjab govt’

TOBA TEK SINGH: PML-N leader and ex federal minister Ch Asadur Rehman has claimed the sasti roti scheme is one of the best achievements of the Punjab government.

He said this while inaugurating of laying of soling at Plot B Area at Pirmahal on Saturday. He said that the nation was facing crises due to alleged wrong policies of Musharraf regime. He claimed that the PML-N government was doing its best efforts for providing facilities to the masses. PML-N Pirmahal city president Hakim Rafiq Arshad, secretary Israr Philourvi and Youth Wing president Asad Hafiz also spoke.
