10 Pak Army soldiers receive

The country’s highest gallantry award ‘Nishan-e-Haider (Emblem of Haider) has so far been awarded to 10 brave army men posthumously, one brave soldier belongs to Pakistan Air Force, nine to Pakistan Army and yet no recipient from Pakistan Navy.

According to a private TV channel report, ‘Nishan-e-Haider’ was established in 1957 after Pakistan became a Republic, however, it was instituted retrospectively back to 1947. It is awarded to military personnel, regardless of rank, for extraordinary bravery in combat.

‘Nishan-e-Haider’ is prepared in Pakistan Mint with gun manufacturing material. It consists of 88 per cent copper, two per cent zinc and 10 per cent tin, said Murid Abbas Jaffery Deputy Works Manager, Pakistan Mint.

‘Nishan-e-Haider’ is made only when ordered by defence ministry Pakistan Mint produces 34 various awards including ‘Nishan-e-Haider’, he added.

The recipients of Nishan e Haider includ: Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed; Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed; Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed; Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed; Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed; Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed; Jawan Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed; Lance Naik Muhammad Mahfuz Shaheed; Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed and Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed.
