Anti-dumping duty on bed linen export ends
March 06, 2009
ISLAMABAD: The anti-dumping duty (ADD) on export of Pakistani bed linen to the Europe Union imposed in March 2004 stands expired from March 5, 2009 (Thursday).
The ministry of commerce announced here on Thursday.
The anti-dumping duty of 5.8 per cent was making our exports in competitive as against other suppliers, the ministry said.
Pakistan’s exports of bed linen to the European Union during the year 2007-08 was $842.7 million and has 44 per cent of total EU’s market share.
The imposition of anti-dumping duty made the exports uncompetitive and its exports declined by 9 per cent in value terms while quantities remained the same as of last year’s exports.
Pakistani exports of bed linen suffered on this count. The European Commission has issued a formal notification in this regard in its official journal.
