Opponents have only a few days left: Nawaz

Declares his government will complete this and next term; ‘when we were in jail, they were campaigning for Musharraf’s referendum’

KASUR: The political demise of our opponents is imminent and they have only a few days left before they disappear. This was stated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while addressing a public gathering at Phoolnagar on Saturday.

The prime minister declared that by the Grace of Almighty Allah his government will complete this term and after winning the next elections, will also complete the next term.

Nawaz said his rivals did not even endure miseries of jail while he himself had undergone such ordeals in the Attock Fort. “When we were in jails, they were running the dictators’ referendum campaign,” he recalled.

Without naming PTI Chairman Imran Khan, he said he was demeaning the very democracy which allowed him to protest on the streets.

The prime minister said: “Imran Khan has never seen jail. We have fought a military dictator, spent time in prison and exile, all for the sake of democracy.”

He said, “We do not fear anything except Allah Almighty and cannot be subdued by anyone.”

Nawaz said he was overjoyed seeing a sea of people. “Our opponents take two months to plan such rallies,” he said in another jibe at Imran. He said their political rivals were out to stall an unprecedented and historic development undertaken by his government to fully transform Pakistan into a stable and prosperous country but the people would reject those elements in the 2018 general election as well.

Those political elements want to obstruct and sabotage the pace of progress and development as it has heralded the demise of their political career, he told a charged crowd.

The prime minister said his political adversaries had realised that if the current wave of fast-track progress and development was continued by the PML-N government, then it would end their political career by 2018. Their political demise was imminent, he added.

“They want to take revenge from the people as you have rejected them in the last elections. They know that the people will reject them in 2018 as well,” he added.

The prime minister said the public mandate had always been ordained by Almighty Allah and assured the gathering that their elected government would not only complete the current five-year term but the next five-year tenure also after the 2018 election.

Referring to the PTI, he said they even insulted the public mandate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Citing the successes achieved by the PML-N government, Nawaz said Pakistan was economically and financially more stable with terrorism on the verge of complete eradication.

He mentioned that “today’s Pakistan is much better than it was in 2013,” adding “Pakistan in 2018 will be much better than it is now.”

He recalled the 18-20 hours loadshedding haunting the whole countrymen in 2013 and said the power outages had been immensely reduced and the same would end forever by 2018.

Referring to the Bhikki LNG power plant being installed near the area, he said dozens of power and energy projects were being completed throughout the country. Why the Musharraf regime and the subsequent government failed to perform, he said and added that the difference was that his government had realisation of the masses’ agonies.

The prime minister also questioned dislodging of his government in 1999, which had planned the motorway network for the entire country. No one expanded the motorway project after my government was illegally forced out, which was a huge injustice to the people of Pakistan, he added.

Nawaz said his government had fought terrorism and the fight had been in the last stages for which the personnel of armed forces had sacrificed.

On the occasion, the prime minister announced Rs500 million each for gas supply and health, road and education sectors for the NA-141 besides Rs 300 million for the lift irrigation scheme.

He also announced Rs500 million for NA-142 for provision of health and education facilities besides Rs1 billion for gas supply to PP-183 and PP-184. He said a separate highway would be constructed to connect Phoolnagar with the Lahore-Multan Motorway.
