Rashid Butt passes away

SENIOR journalist and life member of Lahore Press Club, Rashid Butt, passed away after a prolonged illness on Sunday.
His Namaz-e-Janaza, held at the Lahore Press Club, was attended by a large number of journalists, including Hussain Naqi, Azeem Qureshi, LPC President Mohsin Goraya, Secretary Moazzam Fakhar, LPC former Presidents Nasir Naqvi and Arshad Ansari, politicians and people from different walks of life. He was laid to rest at Bibi Pakdaman Gravyard. The Qul for the departed soul will be held at the LPC at 2pm after Zuhar prayer. Rashid’s was on dialysis for last few weeks. He was also suffering from diabetes and high-blood pressure. He had started his career as a journalist in 1980. He worked a reporter and chief reporter for various newspapers and news agencies, including Daily Mashraq, Quetta, Daily Musawat, Hot Line, Akhbar-e-Lahore, NNI, APP and ANN. LPC President Mohsin Goraya, Vice President Imran Yaqoob, Secretary Moazzam Fakhar, Treasurer Zahid Abid, members of governing body and council members expressed their grief over the death of Rashid Butt. They termed his death an irreparable loss to the journalist community and journalism. They prayed may Almighty Allah rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss. Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, PTI Punjab President Ahsan Rashid, General Secretary Raja Javed Mujtaba, Vice President Amin Zaki, Lahore President Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, office-bearers Iftekhar Baloch and Shabir Siyal also expressed sorrow over the death of Rashid Butt.
