Model Town Division haven for criminals

MODEL Town Police Division has become free zone for terrorists, dacoits, robbers and thieves as around 45 incidents of dacoity, robbery, street crime, car and motorcycle snatching were reported during the last week.
The data available with The News revealed that out of total 45 registered incidents during the last week, around 7 motorcycles and 11 cars were also snatched, stolen or lifted from different localities falling under the jurisdiction of the Model Town division.
An officer of a sensitive agency identified as Shahid Iqbal was shot injured in Gulberg police precincts during a dacoity bid on offering resistance. Kot Lakhpat and Naseerabad police stations remained on top in high crime rate in the Model Town division as a number of street crime and house robberies were reported in these two police stations during the last week.
Owing to the negligence of the Model Town police division, the Punjabi Complex was also rocked with three low-intensity bomb blasts on Saturday night when the Fusion Night of World Performing Arts Festival of Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop was in progress.
The incident could have caused huge loss if some suicide bomber had managed to hit the Cultural Complex.
The Model Town police is still clueless about the hidden hands who had tried to sabotage the cultural activities going on in Al-Hamra Cultural Complex.
Moreover, the Investigation Police of the Model Town Division has also failed to unearth the mystery behind brutal killing of a Christian Professor of FC College University. Despite the fact that the reason behind the killing of professor and identification of killers had become very easy for the investigators through modern techniques and the record collected from different aspects, no breakthrough had been made even after five days of the incident.
The City Police Division was calculated on 2nd number in crime ratio out of six police divisions with 36 reported incidents.
Out of total 13 motorcycles and 3 cars were also stolen or snatched from the citizens. Shahdra police station remained on top in the incidents of street crime, house robberies and motorcycle and car thefts. Robbers also shot injured two persons identified as Zahid Hussain and Nadeem Raza on offering resistance during dacoity bids in Shahdra police precincts.
This correspondent last week also mentioned that the locals in the City Police Division, Model Town and Cantt division were not given any respite from the looting spree of robbers.
However, the police high-ups had paid no heed to improve this deteriorating situation in three police divisions.
Cantt Police division was calculated on 3rd number with 30 reported incidents out of which 9 motorcycles and 5 cars were also snatched or stolen. The crime rate has slightly decreased in Cantt Division during the last week.
Civil Lines Police Division has broken all previous records of being at last number in crime rate this week as it had come to 4th number from 6th (last) number in crime rate.
Around 24 cases of street crime, house robbery and motorcycle and car snatching or lifting were reported during the last week while three persons including a constable were shot injured on offering resistance during a dacoity bid.
Close relatives of Additional IG Khawja Khalid Farooq were shot injured during a dacoity bid in Racecourse police limits Dr. Imtiaz and his wife were on their way when robbers intercepted them and deprived them of cash, valuables and gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. Dr offered resistance over which robbers shot him and his wife injured.
Meanwhile, a constable Irshad rushed to the crime scene to rescue the victims but he was also shot injured.
It was also learnt that Civil Lines police have taken the credit of arresting a dacoit by tempering the real incident in the application.
A dacoit Tariq had tried to escape after looting a woman Katherine Aziz from Ganga Ram Hospital but she managed to catch the accused. Locals gathered at the spot and handed over the accused to Civil Lines police.
SHO Civil Lines asked the victims to write in the application that the accused managed to escape from the spot but later police succeeded in their arrest.
The crime ratio has constantly been increasing in the Civil Lines Police division due to the reasons best known to the bosses of Lahore Police.
