US bar confers ‘Rule of Law Award’ on deposed CJ

NEW YORK: In recognition of the ongoing movement and struggle of the deposed judges and Pakistani lawyers, the American Bar Association would confer the "Rule of Law Award" on deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and the lawyers’ community of Pakistan in a dignified ceremony.
President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan and spokesperson of deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Athar Minallah have arrived in New York.
Aitzaz would receive the prestigious award in the presence of thousands of lawyers at Hilton Hotel in New York on behalf of the deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Athar Minallah would receive award of the lawyers’ community of Pakistan.
Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan would deliver the speech of Justice Tassaduq Hussain, who is supposed to attend the annual meeting of the lawyers' fraternity while lawyer leader Ali Ahmed Kurd did not get visa for the United States.
The American Bar Association hosted a banquet in the honour of Aitzaz Ahsan and Athar Minallah, which was participated by a number of well known US lawyers.
