ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC), during the hearing of the Haj corruption case, on Wednesday observed that the situation will not improve till the awarding of sentences.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, heard the case.Justice Jamali regretted that no reply was received so far on the show cause notices to the investigation team.
“This culture of defying the court orders will have to be changed now. No one will be allowed to ridicule the courts. Action will be initiated against whosoever commits a breach of law and the Constitution,” he remarked.
Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Sohail Mehmood also appeared in the court. He presented the progress report from the FIA in the Haj corruption case. He told the court that the final challan had been submitted in the subordinate court against all the accused persons found involved in the Haj corruption case. A trial against former federal minister Saeed Kazmi, former DG Haj Rao Shakil, Ahmad Faiz and all other culprits is underway.
The court said direct proceedings may be initiated against the FIA investigation team if it failed to furnish a reply on the show cause notices. The court, while putting off the hearing of the case, directed the DAG to file a reply on show cause notices issued to the FIA probe team before it within two weeks.
