ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Monday said there was no bigger case than the Baldia Town factory fire, which needed to be sent to the military court.
He advised the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to disown those criminals who were named in the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report in the Baldia Town factory incident as the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had disowned the Al-Zulfiqar in the past.
“The MQM should not only disown those who were named in the JIT report but also expel them from the party and also should go to the Supreme Court if it thinks that the JIT is wrong,” Khursheed Shah said while talking to media persons at the Parliament House.
He said that in the past, some PPP workers formed the Al-Zulfiqar but Benazir Bhutto immediately disowned it and expelled its members. He said blaming the army and ISI over the JIT report was not right. “The JIT report has come after two years and, therefore, there will be something in it,” he added. Khursheed Shah said the MQM has a legal right to take the matter to the court.
To another question, he said he had no knowledge about the MQM’s return to the Sindh government. He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had shown willingness over his mediation offer for the formation of the judicial commission to probe the alleged rigging in the general elections 2013.
On the government’s decision to impose taxes without taking parliament into confidence, the opposition leader said all the government parliamentarians, including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, used to attend the assembly sessions in crisis, but now they were ignoring parliament. He said the monthly expenses of parliament were Rs150 million but its performance was zero.He said that neither the prime minister nor the interior minister paid a visit to Shikarpur after the heinous terror attack there.
