ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Sunday said the government did not move an inch to take remedial measures to avert the electricity crisis despite an in-time warning from him to the government.
“The whole country has plunged into darkness due to the government’s negligence and inefficiency and this style of governance is also weakening democracy and the state,” he said adding that the PPP will never compromise over people’s rights, democracy and the state while reacting on the power breakdown that plunged the country into darkness on midnight between Saturday and Sunday.
He said the perception of the people that Nawaz Sharif and his cabinet will run the country better with their experience proved to be a myth. He said he would remind the government in the next parliament session of its tall promises made with the people. Then, he said, the people would decide what promise the government had fulfilled after coming into power.
The government, Khursheed said, should speak the truth to the people and not hide its faults under a web of lies. He said the government should immediately call an NA session so that they could take stock of the situation and take steps for improving the situation.
