PAKISTAN Tehrik-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s father Ikram Ullah Khan Niazi died after protracted illness here on Wednesday.
The deceased was 88 years old. The deceased had been under treatment in Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital where he breathed his last. His body was shifted to Imran Khan’s residence in Zaman Park at 7 pm yesterday. The deceased was survived by a son and four daughters. The funeral prayer of the deceased will be held at Zaman Park at 9:30 am on Thursday (today). Afterwards, the body will be taken to Mianwali where he will be buried in his ancestral graveyard.
Talking to media at his residence, Imran Khan stated that his father, Ikram Ullah Khan, died of pneumonia. Immediately after the death of the deceased was made public, people from all walks of life rushed to Imran Khan’s residence to condole his father’s death.
Prominent among the visitors were Justice (Retd) Wajih-ud-Din, Inam Ullah Khan Niazi, Hamid Khan, Liberal Forum Chairman Asif Khan, Ahmed Awais and Board of Revenue Senior Member Safdar Javed Syed.
Quran Khawani for the deceased will be held at Zaman Park on Saturday at 5:30 pm. The deceased, Ikram Ullah Khan, was born in Mianwali on April 24, 1922. He was the elder son of Dr Azeem Ahmed Khan. The deceased received his early education in Lahore and graduated from Engineering University Lahore. He did his MSc from Imperial College London.
The deceased remained Chief Engineer in Punjab Work Department. He left the job after Khan Zafar Ullah Khan, deceased’s brother and PML-N Vice President Inam Ullah Khan Niazi, developed difference with the than Governor West Pakistan Nawab of Kalabagh.
Ikram Ullah Khan also established a construction company, Republic Engineering Corporation, and remained a consultant with WAPDA.
