Huge cache of arms, explosives recovered in separate raids

QUETTA: Frontier Corps shot dead an alleged militant and destroyed five hideouts, recovering improvised explosive devices, a vehicle and a motorbike in the Jabdar area of Dera Bugti Saturday.

According to a spokesman, the FC personnel acting on a tip-off carried out a search operation in the area when an alleged militant opened fire at them. He was killed in retaliation.

Separately, the FC during checking held five suspects and recovered improvised explosive devices, landmines and other arms from their possession at Karang check post in Qilla Abdullah district.

And in Chaghi, the FC personnel recovered a huge quantity of ammunition from Dalbandin area after they acted on a tip-off. The items recovered from a compound included 11 rockets, 17 hand grenades, 25 rounds, 17 fuses and five kilograms of hashish, an FC spokesman said.

The FC cordoned off the entire area and started efforts to trace out the suspects.

In another incident, unidentified gunmen shot dead a man in the Jhahu area of Awaran. According to Levies sources, the victim was on his way home when armed assailants opened fire at him and fled the scene.
