LAHORE: The 43rd meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order was held at the Punjab Home Department, which was chaired by Provincial Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique.

Provincial Ministers Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and Sohaib Ahmed Bharat also attended the meeting. Secretary Home Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi and representatives of law-enforcement agencies briefed the meeting which reviewed the law and order situation across the province and the steps taken to rid Punjab of illegal weapons.

The meeting reviewed the security arrangements for the Pakistan-Sri Lanka-Zimbabwe cricket series. It also directed ensuring full security for international boxing matches to be held in Lahore from November 26 to 29. The meeting approved funds of Rs62 million for the upgradation of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency. The data protection and safety protocols of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency are being increased. Foolproof security arrangements were directed in government and private educational institutions and hospitals across the province.

It has been directed to ensure combing operations and the use of Hotel Eye software across the province to maintain an atmosphere of law and order. Salman said the protection of people’s lives and property is the top priority of the state. The law and order situation across the province is satisfactory. Shafay said as per the instructions of the chief minister of Punjab, the law-enforcement agencies are busy day and night to maintain peace. Sohaib said all resources are being utilized to ensure law and order across the province. Dr Ahmed Javed said the Cyber Patrol Cell is active to prevent sectarianism and extremism on social media.
