“... only a small number of patients with back pain require surgical intervention”

Dr Afzal Hussain is an orthopaedic surgeon with advanced skills and expertise in paediatric orthopaedic surgery, particularly involving congenital deformities of the limbs. He alongside his team of doctors, specialises in treating conditions of spinal asymmetry at KKT Orthopaedic Centre of the Spine. Many neuro physicians and surgeons have reservations about this mode of treatment. The TNS interviewed him recently to explain this discontent. Excerpts follow:
