Reward money distributed among traffic cops

In a ceremony held at the Sindh Police Headquarters in Garden on Monday, the home minister, Sohail Anwar Sial, distributed a sum of Rs112.5 millionamong 5,376 retired and serving personnel of the traffic police, as well as thefamilies of32 martyred traffic cops.

In an issued statement it said, the prize money was disbursed on the basis of good performance of present, formeranddeceased personnel of traffic police as recommended by three committees constituted by the Sindh inspector general of police.

The money was distributed among 3,900 serving officials and personnel of the traffic police, 1,444 other personnel who either retired from service of traffic police, or were transferred from service, or who passed away during last five years.

Speakers said that the amount was distributed due to the special interesttaken by the inspector-general ofpolice, the additional trafficIGand other relevant authorities of theSindh government in resuming the distribution of prize money among traffic police personnel after a span of eight years.

Speaking on the occasion, the DIG of Traffic, Dr Amir Shaikh shed light on problems being faced by traffic cops and prevailing managerial issues in controlling vehicular traffic on major roads of the city.

IGP Ghulam Hyder Jamali, Additional IG Traffic Police Sindh Khadim Hussain Bhatti, Additional IG Counter Terrorism Department Sanaullah Abbasiand other senior officials of the police service attended the ceremony.
