BANNU: The internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the North Waziristan Agency on Saturday staged protest against the police high-handedness and sluggishness of the government in their repatriation. Led by Waqar Ahmad Dawar, Nisar Ali Khan, Gulzar Dawar and others, the protesters chanted slogans against the police for harassing the IDPs. They marched through various localities and gathered outside the Bannu Press Club and blocked the Bannu-Miran road for traffic for sometime. Speaking on the occasion, they said that the police were harassing the IDPs and subjected them to baton-charge during peaceful protest for their rights. “We have left our houses for sake of country and nation,” Waqar Dawar said, adding that their houses in Hesokhel, Hurmuz and Meski areas had been looting.
