JARANWALA: There is a lobbying going on between PML-N workers and the local MPs to get the party ticket for chairman and vice-chairman slots of the municipal committee.
Sources claimed that fourteen councillors, including Saeed Anwar Bhola, Javed Gujjar, Niaz Rehmani, Razzaq Jatt, Noman Khan, Malik Ashraf, Malik Iftikhar, Obaidullah Anwar, Habibur Rehman Malik, Shahid Mustafa Gujjar, Qayyum Gujjar and Sarfraz Ghauri, led by councillor Rai Mustafa Babar left for Murree from the market committee on Monday evening.
It is mentionable here that Rai Mustafa Babar, brother of MPA Rai Haider Kharal, is a candidate for the chairmanship of the municipal committee. He also claims the support of MNA Talal Badar Chaudhry.
Talking to The News, PML-N youth wing workers Shaukat Ali, Zahid Iqbal, Muhammad Nadeem and Malik Rashid expressed their concern over the move by Rai Mustafa Babar and termed it horse-trading. They said the party men should follow the policy given by Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
Commenting on the departure of fourteen councillors to Murree, PTI leaders Malik Abdul Sattar, Sakhawat Ali and Irfan Shah said that the history of Changa Manga was being repeated which, according to them, was culture of the PML-N.
When contacted, Rai Mustafa Babar said that he was confident to get the party ticket for the chairmanship as he had the support of over 20 councillors. He admitted that he had taken the councillors to Islamabad where MNA Talal Chaudhry had hosted a dinner in their honour.
