This was stated by AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while addressing symbolic parliamentary session of NYA, held here at AIOU. The session during its three-hour deliberations passed a resolution supporting Rangers’ powers in Karachi and continuation of their anti-terrorism operation.

The session was also addressed among others by chairman Higher Educational Commission Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Boluchistan provincial minister Rehmat Saleh Baluch, renowned artist Jamal Shah, Senator Tala Mahmood, Rani Atiqa Ghazanfer of Hunza, Famida Jamali and NYA’s President Hanan Ali Abbasi.

Dr. Shahid Siddiqui assured that AIOU will encourage its 1.3 million students to work with NYA for promoting healthy traditions. The university, he added, could hold joint symbolic Parliament sessions through its 44 regional centres all over the country. Underlying the positive and constructive role of youth in nation-building, he emphasised they should focus on promoting knowledge, positive attitude and professional skill. For transformation of society and to ensure better future, they should devote themselves for enhancing their educational calibre, he added.

Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed praised the role of NYA in motivating youth towards positive activities. The HEC, he said, will ask universities to set up Parliamentary societies at their campuses to understand and project democratic practices in their future life. He offered HEC’s platform for hosting next parliament session of NYA.
