Babar Azam
The number one one-day international (ODI) player in the world at the moment, with most number of fifties in fewer innings than anyone else, leaving behind legendary names of the game, captain of Pakistan Cricket Team, delivered in what was his first major litmus test during the on-going Twenty20 International World Cup. During matches against arch-rivals India, he delivered a match-winning performance and has been leading from the front as captain and a valuable player. We can’t deny his enormous contribution to the team at larger as well as the nail-biting international cricket tournament that is taking place in the U.A.E.
Shaheen Shah Afridi
Better known as Shahid Afridi’s son-in-law to be, Shaheen Shah Afridi is currently Pakistan’s best left-arm swing bowler. In important matches, he usually turns the game on its head by his wicket-taking abilities. He showed class as a bowler during the crucial match against India taking the top three wickets of the Indian batting line-up and was given the man of the match title, which adds another highlight to his strong bowling career in Twenty20 matches and ODIs.
Mohammad Rizwan
A wicket-keeper batter, Mohammad Rizwan, who was promoted to the level of opening batter in Twenty20 internationals, is quite a player. The batter has made most runs in a calendar for Pakistan in the year 2021, passing other international cricketers to reach the rank. During the on-going Twenty20 World Cup, he’s given match winning performances against India and Namibia, taking Pakistan to the semi-finals. A crucial member of the team, though young, he has certified a position in all formats of the game for himself.
Haris Rauf
Though relatively new to the Pakistan Cricket team, Haris Rauf has proven himself based on merit. He first made his name while playing for Twenty20 tournaments such as Lahore Qalanders and Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash league. When called for Pakistan Cricket to be a member as fast bowler, he compiled and has been a key in match-turning performances.
During the on-going Twenty20 International World Cup, he delivered match winning performance when Pakistan played the formidable New Zealand team and also received man of the match.
Asif Ali
A part of several Twenty20 leagues beyond Pakistan as well as local league, Islamabad United, Asif Ali became what Pakistan had been looking for: a hard-hitting lower order batter. Asif Ali, who joined the Pakistan Cricket side in 2018, for the first time, was and still is a pivotal cricketer. During Twenty20 World Cup happening as this is being written, he has showed his skills when Pakistan played New Zealand and Afghanistan where he knocked out four sixes in an over to win Pakistan the match. Full of potential, these are the younger faces of cricket and Asif Ali certainly is a member of that club.
