LAHORE: Dr Yasmin Rashid, adviser to the PTI chairman, on Monday said the name of Saif-ur-Rehman had finally surfaced in China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
In a statement, Yasmin alleged that the government had declared financial close worth $1.9 billion of a 1,320MW coal-based power project without completing prerequisites to reward Saif-ur-Rehman.
She said although the PML-N government boasted about transparency in CPEC, Saif-ur-Rehman had been assigned with the task to make decisions.
She alleged Saif-ur-Rehman had suddenly risen back from political oblivion to make lucrative deals whether it was the LNG deal with Qatar or the CPEC projects.
Yasmin said the way government had declared financial close of the project clearly showed mala fide intentions.
Another PTI leader, Andleeb Abbas, said just like the Nandipur power project, the PML-N government had declared financial close of the coal-fired power project in haste.
Accusing Saif-ur-Rehman of being a front man of the government, she said his name was popping up in every big deal since the PML-N came into power in 2013.
She said those in government had not learned any thing from their past. People still had in their memories the telephonic conversation between Saif-ur-Rehman and Justice (r) Abdul Qayyum, Andleeb said, while demanding the NAB to take immediate action over tampering with the CPEC money.
