Crackdown on coronavirus SOPs violators intensified

MULTAN: The city district administration intensified crackdown on the violators of coronavirus SOPs and sealed shops and imposed a fine on transport owners for violating COVID-19 SOPs in Multan on Monday.

According to officials, the administration was not showing any relaxation in terms of taking action against violators of the SOPs of the pandemic. On the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ali Shehzad, three business centres were closed during the crackdown on violation of Corona SOPs while 7 buses were impounded.

Similarly, action was also taken against owners of eight buses over ignoring coronavirus SOPs. The violators were fined Rs 43,000 fine. 66th birthday of Zardari celebrated: Workers and activists of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) women wing Monday celebrated the 66th birthday of the party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

PPP Multan women wing president Abida Bokhari organised the birthday event and a cake cutting ceremony was held at her residence where the PPP activists paid Zardari rich tributes for his unbreakable commitment and dedication for the promotion of democracy in the country.

They termed him a symbol of struggle and commitment as he continued his struggle even after the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutho. They also prayed for his early recovery from ailment. Addressing the workers and activists, Abida said we can measure the greatness of Zardari when Benazir Bhutto used to call him ‘Pakistan’s Nelson Mandela’.

whiteflies: Whiteflies are very harmful pests for the cotton crop and the Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI) Multan has developed a mechanism to get rid of the pests. Talking to The News, CCRI Director Dr Zahid Mehmood said the institute’s scientists had developed a method by preparing yellow colored magnetic traps to kill whiteflies. Reportedly, whiteflies attack the crop directly and secondly the pests cause damage to the cotton plants by sucking juices from them and cause leaves to yellow, shrivel, and drop prematurely.
