KARACHI: The Karachi police in their drive against criminals arrested 656 suspects from different parts of the city in a week, said the spokesperson for the Karachi police on Sunday. Police recovered approximately 196 kilograms of hashish, 740 grams of ice and 1.78 kilograms of heroin from different arrested suspects, as well as seized 81 different types of illegal weapons, ammunition and three hand grenades used in robbing citizens. Seven shootouts also took place in the city during the past week and 11 suspects were arrested in injured condition. Police also impounded five snatched or stolen motorbikes and seized 10 pistols from the suspects arrested during the encounters. A total of 29 snatched or stolen motorbikes and two auto-rickshaws were also recovered by the police in different actions taken by the officials against criminal activities.
