JHANG: Rescue 1122 divers on Sunday found another body of a man while efforts were underway to recover the remaining six people whose boat overturned in River Chenab near Bhowana Bridge on Saturday. Media Coordinator Ahmad Shoaib told The News that nine rescuers/divers from Jhang had also reached Bhowana to complete the operation.
PRIMARY SCHOOLS UPGRADED: The School Education Department has upgraded 167 girls and 77 boys primary schools to the elementary level in the district. District Education Officer Women Mrs Abida Maqbool said that the School Education Department had approved the upgradation of 244 boys and girls primary schools in the district to the elementary schools level without utilising extra budget.

SARGODHA: Factory Area police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered hashish from his possession. On a tip-off, the police conducted a raid near District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Chowk and arrested drug peddler Usman Akhtar and recovered 2.5kg hashish from him. A case has been registered against the accused.
Woman, paramour shot dead in Sargodha: A woman and her alleged paramour were shot dead in the precincts of Phularwan police station. According to the police, the incident took place at Chiba Purana village where Qaisar Abbas with the abetment of Zahoor Ahmed allegedly shot his sister-in-law Misbah Parveen and her paramour Mazhar Hayat dead.

BAHAWALPUR: The Health Department and the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) will jointly organise a COVID-19 vaccination camp in Uch Gilani on July 27. A meeting of Director Health Dr Muhammad Zakir and Chief of SNGPL Bahawalpur Region Muhammad Imran was held here on Sunday. The SNGPL head assured the director health that the company would provide all necessary facilities including transport for people who would visit the camp for vaccination.
Held for aerial firing: Sarai Mughal police have arrested an accused for aerial firing at Walkalan. A spokesman for the Police Department said they received a complaint of aerial firing. Following the complaint, police rushed to the spot and arrested accused. The police also recovered a weapon and two cartridges from the possession of the accused. The police have registered a case against the accused and started an investigation.
