LAHORE: The Home Department, Punjab, has extended the detention of the proscribed organisation Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Chief, Saad Hussain Rizvi, for 90 days.
According to a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Mudassir Riaz Malik, “in exercise of powers conferred upon me vide Government of Punjab, Home Department notification no SO (Judi-III)7-1/2014 read with letter no SO (Jud-III)-1/2014 dated 10-07-2021 under Section 33 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, powers provided under Section 11-EEE, I Mudassir Riaz Malik, deputy commissioner Lahore, order that Hafiz Saad Hussain Rizvi be detained for a period of 90 days.” According to the notification, the custody of Saad Hussain Rizvi shall be placed under the superintendent Central Jail Lahore.
It is pertinent to mention here that Saad Hussain Rizvi, son of the late Khadim Hussain Rizvi, had been detained on April 12 over allegations that he had incited his followers to take the law into their own hands as, according to him, the government had not met its promise of expelling the French ambassador over blasphemous caricatures published in France.
