ABBOTTABAD: Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan Sunday said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would bring stability to the region and pave the way for an economic revolution not only in country but the entire region.

He was speaking at the 35th death anniversary of leader of Pakistan Movement, Mohammad Jalaluddin, popularly known as Jalal Baba at Jalal Baba Auditorium here. Besides, Member Provincial Assembly Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha, parliamentarians, scholars, members of Baba’s family and others were also present on the occasion.

“The nation is moving forward in the right direction under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif,” he said, and called for unity to meet internal and external challenges the country is faced with.

The governor renewed his commitments to render sincere services for wellbeing of the nation and development. Sardar Mahtab paid tributes to those who had made defence of the country impregnable. He said Pakistan had a strong defence against any aggression.

The governor appreciated the relentless efforts of Jalal Baba for championing the Muslim cause and setting the example of sacrifice, patience, dedication and devotion. Sardar Mahtab said that Jalal Baba’s struggle for creation of Pakistan was unforgettable and would continue to inspire the future generations for a long time to come.

The governor said Jalal Baba was the stalwart of the Pakistan Movement having spirit of public service. He will be remembered as an established leader for ever, said the governor. He said coming across the critical state of circumstances in the present scenario, there is a need to maintain complete unity, fraternity and cohesion in our ranks and spare no effort for ensuring stability; strength, development and prosperity of the country.

Sardar Mahtab directed the Vice-Chancellor of Hazara University to establish “Jalal Baba Chair” at the university. The governor announced Rs 1 million for Hazara Abbasin Arts Council in recognition of its literary and cultural services.

The governor said the tribesmen had rendered great sacrifices for the peace of entire region and government was well aware of the problems and difficulties which they are faced with. He said steps had been taken to redress their grievances on priority. He said the return of internally displaced persons had been started and their dignified return and rehabilitation was the top priority of the government.

The governor said steps had been taken to ensure reconstruction and development of the tribal region. He paid tributes to the tribesmen and security forces for their great sacrifices, adding that we as a whole should realize our responsibilities and come forward to play a role for the sustainable peace in the country.
