LAHORE: British High Commission’s Political Counsellor Luna Thomas called on PMLN Vice President and Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz at Model Town Wednesday.
Both discussed the current situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan-England relations, said a statement issued by media cell of Hamza Shahbaz. It said both expressed concern over the non-availability of vaccines and growing number of COVID-19 cases in Pakistan. Hamza also expressed grave concern over the sinking economy and disorder in Pakistan. He said the government has an important responsibility of overcoming the growing environmental pollution and water scarcity. At the same time, a uniform education system and respect for women’s rights was very important in the country, he added. Luna Thomas said the rights of minorities and freedom of expression should be upheld in Pakistan. Meanwhile, PMLN President Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz condoled the death of Bollywood’s legendary actor Dilip Kumar.
