Over 1,000 cops to guard cattle markets

LAHORE: CCPO Ghulam Mehmood Dogar has said the police have made foolproof security arrangements for the safety of cattle traders and buyers.

He said more than one thousand officers and young men of Lahore police will perform security duties. He said SPs, eight DSPs, 12 SHOs and upper subordinates concerned would be deployed.

Cattle markets have been set up at 12 open spaces adjacent to Lahore city. The district government has set up cattle markets at 5 places in Sadr Division, 2 places in City Division, one place in Cantt Division and four places in Model Town Division.

Livestock markets have been set up at various places including Punjab Society, DHA, Saggian, Lakhodair, LDA City, Pine Avenue Road, Sabzi Mandi Kahna, Ring Road Gujjumatta, Saggian, NFC Society, Haveli Markaz Sundar Road Raiwind and Hazrat Usman Ghani Road.

The CCPO said strict action will be taken against illegal cattle markets and cell points at any place in the city. He directed for ensuring Corona SOPs. He said all measures should be taken to protect traders and buyers from swindlers and pickpockets. He said Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit and police vehicles should ensure effective patrolling in and around the cattle markets. He directed the police officers to make special security arrangements at the entrances and exits of the cattle markets.

He said Dolphin and Peru teams will perform their duties in three shifts till the end of Eidul Azha. He advised that sick people, senior citizens and children should avoid entering cattle markets due to the coronavirus.
