“We have finalised our strategy for protests as Mufti Kifayatullah has gone on a hunger strike after the jail administration didn't allow his family and party leaders to meet him,” ex-senator Hidayatullah Shah told reporters here on Thursday.

Flanked by Qazi Habibur Rehman, the elder brother of arrested JUI-F leader, he said that the party's central leadership had recently visited Mansehra and condemned the arrest of Mufti Kifayatullah under the trumped-up charges.

“The family members and party’s leader wanted to meet the arrested leader but the jail administration refused to facilitate these meetings,” said Hidayatullah Shah. Speaking on the occasion, Qazi Habibur Rehman said that his brother, who was a cardiac patient, had informed him from jail that he had gone on a hunger strike. “My brother has not committed any such crime that the jail administration didn’t even allow his sons and other family members to meet him,” he added.
