Twin cities log 3 deaths, 46 cases: Positivity from Pindi drops to 1.35%

Rawalpindi : Another three deaths have been reported from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district due to coronavirus illness, COVID-19 in the last 24 hours while 46 new patients have been tested positive for the illness from the region.

To date, the virus has claimed a total of 1765 lives from ICT and Rawalpindi district while as many as 106,976 patients have so far been reported positive from the region. The positivity rate of COVID-19 in Rawalpindi district, however, has once again dropped down to 1.35 per cent in the last 24 hours.

Out of a total of 1,325 tests conducted for COVID-19 in Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours, 18 patients have been confirmed positive, said In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi, Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid.

He informed ‘The News’ that another 13180 persons have been administered COVID-19 vaccine in the last 24 hours taking the total number of individuals so far vaccinated against the illness in Rawalpindi to 585,100 including 555,120 persons from the general public and 29,980 persons from health sector.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Saturday reveals that the virus claimed one more life from the Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours that took the death toll from the district to 990. Another 11 patients have been tested positive for COVID-19 from Rawalpindi taking the tally to 24,663 of which 23,482 patients have recovered.

The number of active cases from the district was 191 on Saturday of which 18 patients were undergoing treatment at different hospitals in town while the number of confirmed patients in home isolation was 173.

According to details, the virus claimed two more lives from the federal capital in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 775 on Saturday. Confirmation of 35 new cases from ICT took the tally to 82,313. To date, a total of 80,335 patients have recovered from the illness in the federal capital while the number of active cases of the disease from ICT has got to 1,203 on Saturday.
