17 patients die from Covid-19 across Punjab

LAHORE: Around 17 patients died from COVID-19 while another 129 new cases were confirmed in Punjab province during the last 24 hours.

Of these 17 deaths, nine deaths were reported from District Lahore alone, bringing the total number of corona-related deaths to 4,275 in the provincial metropolis alone. According to report issued by Primary and Secondary Healthcare (P&SH) Department Punjab on Friday, the death toll reached 10,603 in Punjab, while confirmed cases became 344,641 in the province.

Muhammad Qasim from Rawalpindi adds: Another confirmed patient of coronavirus illness, COVID-19 died of the illness from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours taking the death toll from the district to 989 while the virus claimed no life from Islamabad Capital Territory on the third consecutive day though a total of 773 patients belonging to the federal capital had already lost their lives due to COVID-19.

As many as 42 new patients have been tested positive from the twin cities in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 106,930 of which 1762 patients could not survive. The positivity rate of COVID-19 has jumped to 3.14 per cent in Rawalpindi in the last 24 hours with 27 patients reported positive out of 858 tests conducted, said In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid. He said of 27 patients who tested positive in the last 24 hours, 17 were from Rawalpindi district.
