Reshuffle of top cops in KP on the cards

PESHAWAR: A number of senior police officers are likely to be reshuffled in the coming few days, a source toldThe News.The source said that apart from officers in Peshawar, the district police officers of Chitral, Kohat, Abbottabad, Swat, Charsadda, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and few other districts are likely to be transferred and will be given new positions soon.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, Peshawar, Mian Saeed Ahmad is likely to leave for the mid-career management course and a replacement will have to be found.District Police Officer (DPO) Charsadda Shafiullah Khan will retire after attaining the age of superannuation in the coming few days. Also, the DPO Dera Ismail Khan, Rabnawaz Khan is likely to be relieved and sent for posting in the National Highways and Motorway Police that has already requisitioned his services.

Sources at the Central Police Office said a few names were under consideration for posting as SSP Peshawar and the name of a hardworking DPO has almost been finalised for this important position. Also, one of the DPOs is likely to be promoted as deputy inspector general at the Central Police Office. Some of the senior officers serving in the relatively smaller and remote districts are expected to be assigned important responsibilities.

Apart from the officers of the Police Service of Pakistan, the cops promoted from the lower ranks are also likely to get posting as DPOs. The officers of the Provincial Civil Service are also expected to get better postings in the first or the second phase of transfers in the coming days.
