The Sindh government has allowed the resumption of all types of public transport with increased occupancy from 50 per cent to 70 per cent and lifted the two-day ban on interprovincial public transport.
A notification issued on Wednesday reads that in pursuance of the order dated June 14, 2021, issued by the additional chief secretary of the home department, all types of public transport with increased occupancy from 50 per cent to 70 per cent could be resumed, and the weekly two- day ban on inter-provincial public transport has been lifted.
The Transport and Mass Transit Department, from time to time, has issued guidelines and SOPs to help passengers protect themselves against Covid-19. “It is therefore, requested to implement the abovementioned order within your jurisdiction for the prevention and protection of general public from the Covid-19 pandemic disease in letter and spirit in the best interest of public,” says the home department order.
Copies of the notification have been moved to Sindh’s inspector general of police, the commissioners, the additional inspector general of the National Highways and Motorways Police, Sindh Region, Karachi, the deputy inspector general of the Traffic Police, the deputy commissioners of all districts, the senior superintendents of district police, the secretary of the Provincial Transport Authority Sindh, Karachi, the secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Karachi, and the secretary, district regional transport authorities.
