Islamabad : As many as 41 new patients have been tested positive for coronavirus illness, COVID-19 from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours while the virus has claimed one more life from ICT from where the positivity rate of the infection has been recorded as less than one per cent, the lowest in the last three-and-a-half months.
It is worth mentioning here that well over one million people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 from the region and the number of people being vaccinated has been on a continuous rise despite a number of misconceptions among public. To date, over 1,041,000 individuals have been vaccinated against the infection in ICT and Rawalpindi district.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Tuesday has revealed that the total number of patients so far reported from the twin cities has reached 106,766 of which 1760 have lost their lives due to the illness while 103,249 have recovered. The number of active cases from the region has been recorded as 1757 on Tuesday.
According to District Health Officer ICT Dr. Muhammad Zaeem Zia, a total of 31 patients have been diagnosed with COVID-19 against 3,226 tests run in the federal capital. The positivity in the last 24 hours turned out to be less than one per cent that is the lowest in the entire third wave of COVID-19 outbreak, he said.
We have also touched the number of 500,000 vaccinations in ICT, he said. It is important that the number includes individuals from general public and healthcare workers.
According to details, the virus has claimed one more life from ICT in the last 24 hours taking death toll to 773. The total number of patients so far tested positive from the federal capital reached 82,170 after confirmation of 31 cases in the last 24 hours. To date, a total of 79853 patients from ICT have recovered while the number of active cases of the disease has got to 1544 on Tuesday.
In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid informed ‘The News’ on Tuesday that to date, as many as 541,342 persons belonging to the district have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 of which 511,762 are individuals from general public and 29580 are health workers.
It is important that the virus did not claim any life from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours from where a total of 987 patients lost their lives due to the illness.
Only 10 new patients have been tested positive from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours taking tally to 24,596 of which 23,396 patients have recovered. According to Dr. Jawad, as many as 25 confirmed patients from the district were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in town while 188 patients were in home isolation on Tuesday.
