CM wants swift financing for Swat Motorway

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed the officials to finalize the mechanism for execution of Swat Motorway Phase-II Project and take necessary steps for the swift approval and financing of the scheme.

He was chairing a meeting on the progress of the mega developmental projects held here. Senior officials of Urban Development, Revenue, Planning & Development, Communications & Works, Finance, Irrigation, and other relevant departments attended the meeting.

According to an official handout, Mahmood Khan directed the relevant officials to complete the land acquisition process for Swat Motorway Phase-II in the next two to three months to ensure timely progress.

Mahmood Khan said the Chashma Right Bank Lift Canal Project was of vital importance for the food security of the province.

He directed the officials concerned to complete a feasibility study of the project, preparation for the PC-1 and other pre-requisites by March next year and submit it to the relevant federal forum for approval.

Earlier, the meeting was informed that execution of 22 different mega projects was planned under the public-private partnership mode.

These included Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway, acquisition of land for Dir Motorway and other important projects.

The officials said a project about the development of new tourist sites in the province would be included in the upcoming Annual Development Plan.

The Board of Revenue officials stated that hiring of patwaris through Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency, induction of woman patwaris and skills training of the officials along the modern lines were the important steps of the department.
