The sources said that Commander Daulat Khan along with armed men came to the worksite in Mirandi village in central parts of Kurram Agency and kidnapped six labourers identified as Muhammad Gul, Saeedur Rehman, Qudratullah, Abdul Qayyum, Abdul Zaman and Abdul Rauf. The labourers were employed by contractor Noor Zaman. The sources added that the militants also set two tractor-trolleys on fire while taking away the labourers. The sources said that Daulat Khan threatened the authorities in Pakistan that he would kill the captives if ransom was not paid and control of the area in Kurram Agency was not handed over to his group.

Daulat Khan was earlier with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), but later he joined a splinter group and finally pledged allegiance to the IS, or Daesh, under the leadership of Hafiz Saeed Khan Orakzai.
