ISLAMABAD: Special Honorary Representative to the Prime Minister on Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Maulana Tahir Ashrafi on Friday stressed the religious leaders to convince people to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.
Highlighting the significance of mosque as a platform, especially during the Friday’s sermon, Maulana Tahir Ashrafi requested the religious scholars to combat the disinformation and propaganda against the Covid-19 vaccination. Talking to a private TV channel, he said the role of Ulema to create awareness about the vaccination was of paramount importance and would even be more critical in the years to come. He said a religious decree (Fatwa) by Darul Ifta Pakistan had already been released about the vaccination declaring it legal and permissible in accordance with the Shariah.
The Special Representative to the PM asked said the people not to pay heed to the conspiracy theories against the coronavirus vaccine, as it was safe for human consumption and meant to protect their lives. Responding to a query about Haj, he said the vaccination for Haj and Umrah pilgrims would be ensured as per the Saudi government’s instructions.
