Rawalpindi: The City Traffic Police (CTP)has chalked out a traffic plan in connection with the celebrations of Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
CTO Shoaib Khurram Janbaz,in ameeting held here on Tuesday,assigned special duties to officials, including inspectors andDSPs in Rawalpindi, Murree and other adjoining tehsils.
Under the plan, the entry of tractortrolleys, trucks, Mazda vehicles have been banned on the roads where processions of Eid Milad-un-Nabi would be taken out. These big vehicles would be diverted toalternativeroutes.
The vehicles plying from Rawal Chowk to Saddar would be diverted toRawal Road, whereas, traffic moving from Mareer Chowk to Islamabad would be diverted to Tipu Road from Rialto Chowk.
Similarly, motorists and motorcyclistswould not be allowed to use the routes of Fawara Chowk, College Chowk, Raja Bazaar, Bansanwala Chowk, Banni Chowk and would be diverted to alternative routes.
The people who want to proceed to Islamabad from Rawalpindi could use Airport Road, Rialto Chowk and Rawal Road. Moreover the routes of DAV College Chowk, Gawalmandi, City Saddar Road, Novelty Cinema Road, Ganjmandi and Carriage Factory could also be used to go to Islamabad from Rawalpindi. If processions are taken out from Kohati Bazaar to Committee Chowk, then motorists could use Rawal Road, Airport Road and Tipu Road besides Carriage Factory for proceeding towards Islamabad from Rawalpindi
The CTO directed traffic officials to remain on high alert during the celebrations of Eid Milad-un-Nabi and perform their duties in an efficient way.
