SUKKUR: A newly-wed couple, along with some of their relatives, died in a car accident here. The couple and their relations had been going to Karachi from Rawalpindi when their car collided with a coach at the City Bypass in Sukkur.
The couple was identified as Bushra and Usman Abbasi. Two other deceased were identified as Huma Abbasi and Kiran Abbasi, both sisters of Usman Abbasi. The driver of the coach managed to escape from the scene of the accident.
Police have started investigation. The family belonged to New Township in Sukkur.Meanwhile, hundreds of people along with some relations of the deceased staged a protest demonstration at the National Highway in Sukkur against the accident and held the NHA responsible. The National Highway remained closed for traffic for three hours.
Haji Izhar-ul-Hassan, father of Usman Abbasi, demanded an action against the NHA authorities.Reports said that due to the demo at the National Highway, the motorcade of the Sindh chief minister had to be diverted to an alternative route.
