Music’s biggest night, the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards was a star-studded event, where artists were recognised for their outstanding contributions from 2020. Just like the past years, awe-inspiring glamorous looks remained a constant at this year’s Grammys. Styled by the industry’s leading hairstylists and makeup artists, A-list celebrities flaunted lots of shine and sparkle as well as shimmery eyes, extravagant nail art and much more.
Here’s a round-up of our favourite beauty moments that impressed us big time.
Beyonce
There are times when all you need is a little black dress to steal the show and Beyonce exactly did that. The American singer, songwriter and actress, who won four awards bringing her lifetime total to 28, chose a stunning black design by Schiaparelli. She sported a soft, glam summer look - shimmery taupe shadow was blended all over her lids before sweeping a deeper brown shade onto the crease for a graphic smokey eye look. For the night, Beyonce’s long, honey-blonde hair was brushed out for dramatic volume and texture. The glossy nude lips added extra definition to her overall look.
Billie Eilish
Just like last year, Billie Eilish, who won Record of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media, opted for a custom made Gucci floral jacquard shirt and pants (embellished with sequins) and bucket hat. Billie Eilish didn’t stray from her signature look: green highlights and ultra-long nails painted perfectly to match her outfit. This was the second time that Billie matched her manicure to her outfit. She accessorized her look with white gold lion head earrings with aquamarine and diamonds and kept her makeup minimal and glowy.
Dua Lipa
Looking effortlessly elegant, Dua Lipa wore a custom Versace pink, column dress covered entirely in crystal mesh. The Best Pop Vocal Album winner chose a dress accentuated with heritage butterflies encrusted with Swarovski crystals in a pastel palette. Channelling Cher vibes, she went with sleek, straight hair and twinkling lilac eyeshadow that was as shiny as the gems on her dress. It was her night!
Phoebe Bridgers
Phoebe Bridgers’ skeleton dress designed by Thom Browne was definitely one of the stand-out looks of the evening. The singer and songwriter’s gorgeous gray-blonde hair in a deep side parting, oxblood lipstick and flushed cheeks added a playful touch to her edgy outfit. If it’s been a year or so since you last reached for a dark lipstick colour, consider this a sign.
Taylor Swift
The singer made history when she took home the Grammy award for Album of the Year; she’s the first female artist to have won the award three times. For the ceremony, Swift wore a floral mini dress designed by Oscar de la Renta that she paired with Louboutin heels and Cathy Waterman jewellery. Designed with long bell sleeves and a mock neck, the fitted mini dress featured a colourful array of eye-catching embroidered flowers. With soft fringe and messy hair-do, Taylor Swift went with soft makeup to match the pink shades in her gown. The rosy eyes were anchored by classic black eyeliner; for her lips she opted for a subtle pink hue.
H.E.R.
At this year’s Grammy Awards, H.E.R flaunted her burgundy Dundas outfit, which looked quite similar to our desi attire. The mid-calf robe with iris art nouveau motif embroidery was paired with matching wide-leg Hamilton trousers and Stuart Weitzman shoes. H.E.R sported onyx waves flowing past her waist styled by Nina Monique and mesmerizing purple-and-gold cut crease eye-shadow topped with lush falsies and terracotta-brown lipstick. She accessorised her look with matching sunglasses from Bonnie Clyde - a match made in heaven with her glittery lids created by Marissa Vossen.
