FAISALABAD: The PTI workers allegedly ransacked an election office of Dr Maqbool Ahmad, a winning candidate of the Mayor Group in UC No-90. The PTI workers allegedly attacked and ransacked the office of Dr Maqbool after he defeated PTI candidate Mehmood Rehmani. The accused also beat his workers, who were present in the election office. Meanwhile, the Mayor Group workers staged a demonstration at Bismillah Chowk and demanded registration of a case against the PTI workers.
Swabi to have archaeological conservation lab

PESHAWAR: Taking another initiative to protect and conserve the archaeological and heritage sites and precious antiquities, the Department of Archaeology and Museums Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved to establish an archaeological conservation laboratory in the historic Hund area in Swabi district. According to a communiqué, the establishment of a laboratory was the need of the hour which would greatly help in preserving valuable antiquities already on display at various museums and also those lying in reserve collection and excavation. The laboratory will be constructed at Hund, a historic place near Peshawar-Islamabab Motorway in Swabi. The laboratory will also extend services to archaeology departments of other provinces. There is neither scientific conservation laboratory in the province nor in Pakistan to protect, preserve and treat the precious antiquities.
PTI demands LG polls in Toba under army

TOBA TEK SINGH: The PTI leaders have demanded the second phase of the local government elections scheduled for November 19 in the district under the supervision of army. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, former district Nazim Ch Muhammad Ashfaq, PTI district organiser Ahmad Nawaz, former MNA Riaz Fatyana, former Gojra Tehsil Nazim Asad Zaman Cheema, Usman Hamza, Saeed Ahmad Saeedi, Khawar Sher Gadhi and Tahir Pervaiz Anjum alleged that the government was approving development schemes according to the wishes of the PML-N LG candidates in violation of the election code of conduct.
PML-N bags majority seats in Kasur

KASUR: The ruling PML-N clinched majority of seats in the Saturday’s local government elections while the independents remained second and the PTI third, according to unofficial results. Of the 125 union councils, the PML-N secured 44 seats, independent candidates bagged 42 and the PTI won 34 seats. Two candidates of the PPP and one candidate of the PML-Q were also declared successful. The elections in one union council of Kot Radha Kishan was cancelled while the result of one union council was yet to be announced. Out of the 168 wards of the municipal committees, the PML-N bagged 96 councillor seats, independent candidates 42, the PTI 24 and the PML-Q won four seats.
Kiln workers continue strike

TOBA TEK SINGH: The sit-in of brick kiln workers entered the third day here on Sunday. They were demanding implementation on an agreement reached between the kiln workers and owners on October 19 with the mediation of the district administration. District President Labour Qaumi Movement Muhammad Shabbir and labour leader Sajida demanded the kiln owners to pay the workers the agreed wage of Rs800 per 1,000 bricks. They vowed to continue the protest till the acceptance of their demand.
Bike rider run over in Haripur

HARPIUR: A speeding van crushed to death a bike rider on the Grand Trunk Road near Dehdan village here on Sunday. Reports said Naseer Ahmad, a resident of Hassanabdal, was on his way to Kotnajibullah from Hassanabdal on a motorbike. A rashly driven Toyota Hiace hit the bike head on near Dehdan village, killing Naseer Ahmad on the spot.
Man killed after being hit by boulder

DARGAI: A man was killed while his brother sustained injuries as a boulder hit them in Dargai tehsil of Malakand Agency on Sunday, sources said. The sources said that Ihsanullah and Ismail were on their way home when a boulder fell on them in Usmankhel village in Mian Killay area. Both of them were trapped under the boulder. The locals shifted the victims to the Civil Hospital in Dargai where Ismail succumbed to his injuries.
Mayor group claims winning 84 seats

FAISALABAD: Mayor Group leader Ch Sher Ali has claimed that nominees of his group have won 84 seats out of 157 city council seats. In a statement here, he said that the defeat of his son Amir Sher Ali did not mean that the Mayor Group had been defeated. Ch Sher Ali said that he would announce his further line of action.
14 booked for snatching election result

FAISALABAD: Tandlianwala police have registered a case against 14 people of Chak 426/GB on the charges of snatching result of a Tandlianwala polling station and torturing a polling officer. The case has been registered under Sections 395 of the PPC and 7-ATA. Raids are being conducted by police to arrest the accused.
