A four-day professional training/workshop on `Eidetic Therapy` was organised for students and teachers of the Department of Psychology at Bahria University.
The main objective of the training was to introduce new therapeutic model ‘Eidetic Model of Growth’ which benefits people with severe emotional and behavioral problems in our country.
The resource person of the workshop was Dr. Akhtar Ali Syed, Head of the Psychology Department at Brothers of Charity in Waterford, Ireland. He has played an important role in introducing Eidetic Psychotherapy into number of universities in Pakistan. He has also created a new model which he calls the ‘Eidetic Model of Growth’ (EMG) for people with Intellectual Disability (ID). His model is now part of the organisational policies as the therapeutic model, which benefits people with severe emotional and behavioural problems from various levels of ID and associated disorders. But his real success has been with those individuals who were non-verbal.
Expressing her views, a participant Mehwish Kamran said: “I feel honoured after having training and interaction with learned expert. Being a student, I have to deal with some clients suffering from different disorders by considering the needs and demands of my clients, however, this workshop on eidetic therapy has added into my professional skills to get my objectives effectively and efficiently” he added.
Another participant said that the workshop conducted on Eidetic Therapy was very useful for the students of Psychology. It provided an opportunity to comprehend and understand the theoretical principals along with therapeutic techniques. It is opined that such workshops will be continued for professional grooming of the psychology students.
Moreover, the professional and students of different universities and organizations also participated in this training.
At the end of the session, Dr. Uzma Masroor, Head of
Department of Professional Psychology at BUIC gave vote of thanks. Registrar Bahria University, Rear Admiral Shahid Saeed distributed certificates among the participants and resource person of training and appreciated their interest and keenness in workshop.
