Two suspected target killers were arrested by police in raids conducted in Malir and Shah Faisal on Monday.
The counter-terrorism department-II said police conducted a raid at a hideout of target killers in Malir and after an encounter arrested two men, Kamran Qureshi and Khawar.
During the initial interrogation, the two men disclosed that they were activists of a political party and extorted money from people in
the form of fitra on Eid-ul Fitr and also snatched hides of sacrificial animals on Eid-ul-Azha.
The money they collected was provided to target killing teams, police said.
The two men were active in Al-Falah, Shah Faisal Colony, Saudabad, Model Colony and other areas of the city and both directly and indirectly involved in target killings.
They also monitored the movements of people the target killing teams intended to target.
Besides, they also supplied weapons and shelter to target killers.
On the basis of the information retrieved from the two suspected hitmen, the police conducted a raid in Shah Faisal and arrested another alleged target killer, Yameen Qureshi.
The counter-terrorism department-II said that Qureshi
had confessed to involvement in the murder of police constable Mansab in the Malir district.
The three men were found in possession of three TT pistols, a mini Kalashnikov and a .22 rifle.
