Mother, son among three injured in mugging bids

A mother and her son were among three people who were wounded in mugging incidents in the city on Sunday.

According to the Surjani Town police, the first incident took place in the Lal Buksh Goth. The injured were moved to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment.

The injured were identified as 45-year-old Adal Shah Bibi, wife of Noor Hassan, and her 14-year-old son, Allah Hassan. The police said two robbers shot at them for resisting their mugging bid.

The robbers managed to escape the scene; however, a case had been registered, the police added. In the second incident, 30-year-old Ataullah, son of Bacha Khan, was wounded for resisting a mugging bid near the Rubi Morr. According to the Madinah Colony police, the victim was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medical treatment.

According to SHO Aslam Shaikh, two robbers were riding a motorcycle and the victim was in a car. Incidentally, he added, a patrolling team reached the scene after which the robbers opened fire on the police personal in a bid to escape.

As the police retaliated, he said, one of the robbers was injured, while the other managed to flee from the scene. The arrested robber was identified as Abdul Kareem and a case had been registered, he added.

Man injured

A man was wounded in a firing incident that took place in the Zikri Muhalla. According to the Kalri police, the injured was Mehboob Zikri, 35, and he was taken to the CHK. The police said the victim’s cousin, namely Shahzad, shot and injured him at their house in a fight erupted over a personal dispute. According to the police, the suspect is on the run and a hunt has been launched for this arrest.
