KHAR: The elders of Khilji tribe in the Kamangara area of Bajaur district on Saturday said that the disputed barren land along the Bajaur-Mohmand boundary should be handed over to them as they were the real owners of the property.

Speaking at a press conference here, elders of Khilji tribe including Muhammad Alam Khilji, Dost Muhammad Khilji and others claimed that they were the owners of the disputed land and the government should dispense justice by handing it over to them.

“We have nothing to do with the boundary dispute between the dwellers of Bajaur and Mohmand district. The unfertile land from Drabano to Mamad Gat is the property of Khilji tribe and the government must do justice with the owners,” Alam Khilji said, adding that the cadet college in Mamad was also constructed without their consent. To a question, he said that the Khilji tribe had submitted an application with the concerned assistant political agent and other officials at that time but they were not provided an opportunity to listen to their side of the story. “The cadet college was established on our property despite our strong resistance, which is an injustice with our tribe, an elder complained,” he added. He said that the government should hand over the barren land to the Khilji tribe so they could make it cultivable to earn a living for their families.

The elders also appealed to chief justice of the Peshawar High Court to take notice of the issue and provide them justice.
